Field Investigations
With more than 100 fields under study, we are very experienced in the transport of nutrients and contaminants in soil and water.
- We forecast groundwater recharge quality within e.g. the legal framework of the German Soil and Water Protection Law or other obligatory frameworks like the requirements for drinking water quality, which will depend on your local law and regulations.
- We protect groundwater from diffuse or point pollution. After a thorough survey on the sources we use elaborate methods to distinguish relevant emissions and discover responsible polluters.
- We explore the hydrogeology of water catchments or smaller units by analysing existing data and geological maps or we set up observation wells to characterise the layers and fluxes in the region.
- We set up agricultural field experiments with local farmers or on research sites to improve yield, work economy or environmental parameters like groundwater quality.
For these and scientific purposes we often produce total or partial mass balances for the chemical substances of interest. By applying the SIA method we also have a unique method at the field or regional scale to close the mass balance for the soil - groundwater path. So far, this was only possible with much more cost, effort and uncertainty.
Here, we can only give some typical examples for field investigations, which answer a question with a bundle of approaches and methods. For more detail contact us without any commitment.
